Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM)and NBS bank have entered into an agreement aimed at making their services accessible countrywide through NBS Branches and Agencies. This is admittedly the newest product from MASM under the name, MASM @ Ur Door Step.

Sealing the agreement, at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre, MASM General Manager Sydney Chikoti stressed that MASM appreciates the need to make medical insurance services accessible to people without geographical boundaries.

He said the choice of NBS Bank was arrived at after being convinced that the bank is the only bank which s has Branches and Agencies everywhere in the country.

“We are looking at a teacher in Chitipa, we are looking at a business man in Karonga, everybody needs medical insurance services and having grown in capacity over the years, we are taking positive steps to make ourselves available at everyone’s door step,” said Chikoti during the signing ceremony.

Chikoti said MASM is equipped to accommodate and serve members scattered across the country without them feeling frustrated.

“We have capacity to accommodate members spread across the country. We do appreciate how our medical insurance services are desired by even people who are operating in non urban centers such that making no efforts to reach out to them is equal to denying them a right to proper medical care,” he said

Speaking at the function, NBS Chief Executive Officer John Biziwick said theey have agreed to work with MASM on this arrangement, Masm @ Ur Door Step, considering their customers in the remote parts of the country who normally have to travel to cities just to fill declaration forms for MASM membership.

“ We are not only for business, we also consider health welfare of our customers. Iinstead of our  clients traveling long distances just to register membership at MASM for medical insurance we decided to make this available in all our agencies and branches country wide,” he said.

NBS Bank has 27 branches nationwide which would act as MASM membership pay points.  And again, both MASM and NBS Bank seek to see even non members accessing the provision because it is generally flexible to everybody.

“People who are not our clients can also patronize the services by making inquiries and accessing registration in our Branches, in short this service is not limited to NBS bank clients only, we would welcome customers of other banks to come to our Branches everywhere and seek these services, they will be assisted by our well trained personnel.
